The Desert

Sweat is extracted from my every pore
As I walk along the black asphalt floor.
Here, a stoplight I encounter and stand,
Sweltering in the heat spread through this land.
No refreshing spring or a shady place
As I melt from this world without a trace.
I left on a journey to meet a friend
Oh, how I wish it was winter again!
So that I may be relieved from this hold
That this desert has placed on me so bold
Ly the valley clings to me greedily,
Not letting me go; I’ll never be free.
