The darkness

This ghost was different

From those that have come before

A familiarity to its demeanor

Shook me to my core

I've seen this ghost afore

In nightmares dreams and more

Whispering to me in my sleep

But I cannot hear the call

The clanking of the milkman

On his early morning round

Awakes me to the silence

In my now empty room

As his horse hits the cobbles

The rag and bone man hits the bell

I run inside for a carrot

But me Mum said “go to hell”

In my dream my nightmare

The trees were not my friend

The higher I climbed the canopies

The more the tree would bend

Then I heard the whispers

As clear as daylight tells

Do not be afraid of the darkness

The darkness is your friend

All poems included here are just first draft's. I hadn't written poetry for a few years, so to polish my art and find my muse I posted some quickly written poems on these pages so I could see your response. It has helped me by reading your reviews about my poems (all of which I have taken into consideration) all comments have helped me improve my work a great deal. Thank you. I realy enjoy reading all your poems. I find some very insperational, some very heart felt, some very deep, which has helped me to push myself and dig deeper. Very deep, on some occasions. So my own poetry has vastly improved- since I have joined this sight, it has certainly helps splur me on. Thank You for all your imput and replies, please keep it up. It has helped educate me and make me a better writer.
