The Curse of Knowing

Secrets are made to absolve
The truth can be worse than the lie
 The unknown seems inconsequential
 When faced with incomprehensible things
A father can seem as the thunder
Or a shepherd wielding a sling
He can raise a child in virtues
Or deprive them of all in their prime
In the formative years of election
When it's said angels minister to their tears
He can unleash a torrent of hailstones
Or vanish in the midst of the dawn
A mother can seem like rain falling
On a land in thirst of her love
A healer of wounds and a teacher
Who can snap the breath from the lungs
She can despise a child for reminding,
Her of the role inequality plays
Destroying her dreams for a husband
Who can seem like the fires of hell
 You believe that your faith,
 Is devout to impossible things
Then you learn there have been great omissions
Leaving you questioning faith, love and everything
Alas! Secrets are made for discovering
In an allotted and appointed time
Like lightning in glory you'll wonder
Why knowledge can be so unkind.
