The Cross Lights My Way

The clock ticks down as I ready my car
To run the same errand, the trip is not far
It's another cool darkened Wednesday eve
For the same journey we prepare to leave

No streetlights, moonlight or stars in the sky
It's only February, how I wish it was July
He's at soccer practice, familiar sounds I begin to hear
Distant train whistles and church bells pleases my ear

Slowly now, I see the church, the inside is so bright
But it's that beautiful cross that captures my sight
A peaceful calm claimed my soul, I soon realized
"I am the light", a message so uniquely disguised

Bound for home in this rural town, another church I pass
Memories of my Savior's word seen through stained glass
So on those dark sacred nights, remember to pray
Because of Jesus, the cross lights my way

Linda D. Blakely

I was born in West Virginia and raised in Kentucky. I've been writing poetry since high school and have been in many poetry circles on the internet. I am known in these circles as the "legendarylinda". I have won contests, received medals and many other merits for my poetry. I would love to travel and see the world. My hero is Jesus Christ. I wish to dedicate this book to my parents and all my friends everywhere in the world. ~Peace Legendary Linda more…
