The collapsing bridge

Standing at the edge of the abyss
Never had noticed it before
So deep and dark, I could hear its roar
It’s gravity tired to pull me in

Wondered how many hearts
Lay lost, in a purgatory state
Waiting there, frozen in time
Would mine be next?

Blinded by the shinning light
I could still see the promise land
Where together so much we enjoyed
Our love was our only demand
I am shaken, more stones are crumbling,
Emptiness fills the air, no sound of crashing
The bridge that connected our worlds
Had been collapsing for a while now

I remember when you built it patiently
Assuring me repeatedly
Of its fortitude and its stability
And I trusted you implicitly

How is it that I ended up here,
While you watch me from the other side?
Darling, what’s the use of a bridge?
Why did you listen to that heartless snitch?

So as the bridge continues to dissolve
It takes my dreams, but I have resolved
The abyss will fill up with my tears one day
And I’ll swim to be near your heartbeat again!
