The Canary and the Goldfish

The canary in his little cage
The goldfish in her bowl,
All alone for many hours
Without another soul.

He would chirp and tweet at her
To him she'd bubbles blow,
They shared a kind of language
That they could only know.

She would swim in circles
And flip her pretty tail,
He would sing for hours on end
Adoring without fail.

Although they came from different worlds
And didn't look the same,
Soul-mates in their solitude
Together they became.

Two tiny little creatures
Longing to be free,
To share their love together
In life's great mystery.

Could they love each other
Only they would know,
Let's hope one day they'll meet again
In that place where good souls go.
