The Bird In The Tree

I saw a little bird singing in the tree
How I wish I were half as free
Its throat thin, its voice was narrow
Beyond the reach of any arrow
----------------------------------------------
Its tiny song, oh how so sweet
Coming in notes of a perfect beat
Its wing was short, its beak still soft
To learn to fly was quite a must
----------------------------------------------
Yellow tail feathers and beast so blue
Colors so pretty and yet so true
Its home was made of the lightest straw
Brought from afar by mother's claw
----------------------------------------------
Here it was in the swinging nest
Taking its time, enjoying its rest
And when its wings were strong and wide
It flew away with a feathery pride
----------------------------------------------
Above the trees, up in the sky
The tallest heights to test and try
