The Beggar

He only
 Saw my eyes
Because I always
Wore a niqaab when I went outside

&
Although true love was
      Within arm's reach

he did not hesitate to leave

(Later that evening)

Through my veil
I watched him out the corner of my right

Eye
     stare at me

And within a few seconds
  he vanished behind a curtain

Leaving me behind for a second time
