Memories slip past smiles in quiet eyes,
licking the spoon after mother baked cakes,
dainty little dollops of warm pleasure
that flood the mind with generous beauty,
and I gather up sighs with ice-cream tones.

Shopping lists that stretch eternity's grin,
a handkerchief wipe as friends laughed madly,
her voice in the distance as I built dens,
shouting me in for dinner was ready,
these are the times I will savour the most.

Tears of happiness flip me over love
while wisdom shines in the lessons given.
Singer sewing machines humming all day,
from teddy bears to sport bag leather scent,
it's all up in the air of remembrance.
