The Addiction

You are the addiction
I have at last over come.
When withdrawal creeps up,
I sleep- putting it at bay.
Rising stonger,
so that thoughts of you turn away-
with a shrug.
I am only waiting to say it,
pronounce it at some 12 step group.
I know there is one.
It has died it's own natural death.
I do not hold regret,
I have learned more of love
in these past few years,
than all of my life together.
You did not love,
you feared old age and lonliness.
Because you did not love,
you will face them both,
without me.
