Thanksgiving Day

Tears fall from my eyes, these soaked clouds of black rain,
Wishing I said goodbye & that I love you when I had the chance.
Thoughts of you every day fall through tormenting skies of pain,
Wishing I had spent more time with you to make my amends.

I'm living with the guilt so much now,
Sitting here every Thanksgiving Day,
Wishing that I knew how,
To let out everything I had to say.

Tears soak the ground where they lay you to rest,
For it was there that I carried you,
In a silver box that had your name on its crest,
Wasn't til then I knew part of me died too.

I think about you all the time even though it hurts,
Missing you on Thanksgiving Day because you're not here,
And I remember they put you in a silver box in the dirt,
And the tears fall again because there's more I wanted to share.

Never got to say goodbye, I'm so sorry.
I wanted you to know that I love you.
Never got to tell you that, I'm so sorry.
Father, I pray the wind takes my message to you.
