Temptation

The pressure is steadily rising,
Skin warm with fever,
My blood starts to boil.
What a perplexing endeavor,
Restless from contemplating,
Baffled by this allurement.
My head feels like weeping,

Yet my heart feels complacent.
Knowing this is deceitful,
Knowing that this is wrong,
Or is it?
Chagrined by my fear,
The inevitable consequences.
The future always unclear,
But to me it's so enticing.
I will forever be damned,
Yet I'm unconcerned.
An eternity without you,
Would be unfathomable.

(I don't usually do free verse, but I thought I would give it a whirl!)
