Sun and Sky

Oh my god!
You sparkle with the radiance of the universe,
my fingers dance across the cosmos
and I see stars explode in your eyes.
Light and dark
I press against you as we create the world
Stars and sky
Dark and light
Both side of the moon
and both side of the soul.

Your hands show me how to shine
and from me you learn how to hide―
sometimes you gotta;
sometimes people want to steal your spark.
I tell you this and you listen,
but you can always shine around me
A sky cannot be without stars.

Suddenly you burst,
blinding me with your joie de vivre.
You are the sun
and I the blue sky that holds you,
protects you (and “protects” people from you).
I am complimented by your glow
as you run across my face.
A few moments of euphoria
before darkness again.
The whisper of the universe
drifts to my ear from your lips,
“I love you.”
The stars twinkle like dewdrops
framed by a blanket of night.
