Summer

Today
in the open and clear
the heat was subtle
and slow- sipping into
and slapping on skins
the browns; the blacks and the pinks
a respecter of no creed
that gentle but harsh
very obvious a heat wave
very gorgeous a display
to bask in the euphoria that its summer
summer come too soon
summer once gone is too far
so be it a heat flood
the inhabitant will see opportunity
to dress loose, jump and shout
to do bbq's and swim and surf
like it was a once a life time summer
it sure has it
sure it gathers
the known and the unknown
in this apparent joy
that everything brings
it this awesome ploy
to savour every bit; every meat
in all flavours
summer time

David Abraham

Here, an opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to ALMIGHTY GOD for giving me the gift of poetry, it is indeed a beautiful thing especially the positive energy of expression and the passion. I discovered my gift of writing and poetry quite early but only much later in my life did I start to put it to use. I was quite active in the old poetry.com and won one poetic pin, several poetic accolades and one of the poets of the year in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. Presently, am writing my second unpublished inspirational book and also putting together a poetic book due to be published later in the year. email address: mypoeticcareer@yahoo.com.
