Springtime On The Prairies

Nature poses for Her spring portrait,
regaled in majestic splendor.
Her vivid pigments and pastels
are bold and strikingly pleasing.

Chinooks melt virgin winter snows,
like a tepid tropical breeze.
While meandering rivers form long loops,
snaking across the open prairie.

A rising sun imbues light,
with a sense of hope and magic.
And gilding the edge of night,
it fuels dawn's resurrection.

White cottony clouds are smeared with
smudges of vermilion and pink.
And a watermelon horizon,
marks the birth place of a new day.

Reminiscent of paradise,
patches of wild flowers start to bloom.
And drowning in a sea of green,
they reach for an indigo sky.

Many of my poems reflect the uniqueness and special circumstances of my upbringing. more…
