Sonnet Variant A Knight's View

Sonnet A Knights View

Since truth and forgiveness don't walk hand in hand
Since players of games are so rife in the world
I now have decided to thus take a stand
As agenda of those without is unfurled.
Onward to great glory so says the old tale
Of the errant knight who is loved by so few
His fine ancient story shall not at all fail
He'll rise from the ashes with thinking anew.

I'll not be placed in contrivance by chance
With those who will dictate to me my own thought
Goodly knight thus will skewer such with his lance
Because such contrivance with error is fraught.

I make no more cowering licks to the hand
The pup that I once was in now all but gone
My way in this world will no longer be bland
And to those dictators I no longer fawn.
What? Say the callers of orders no longer
The Sergeant at Arms is at last just ignored
It is a good thing that just makes me stronger
No longer part of the malevolent hoard.
