smoke

what drives us to live
   to brave this crooked world?
fear and love
   twist into a smoked swirl
powerful forces bound by difference
?which one will lead and take us the distance
if love becomes lost
   fear will find a trail
a deep, dark path
which can turn strong into frail
but deep within our weakness
   exists a tiny light
a light that cannot be seen
   for it is quite slight
listen...
the quiet darkness whispers for death
that slight light falls dim
   flicking by its breath
as smoke dances with the black wind
like a grey glove to a hand
a short dance which ends with a burning kiss
   like a brand
as fear breathes in certain victory
   it began to choke smoke
fear had fallen...
   and that small light
      once again
         awoke
