Silently we drop

O how silently we dropped
Straight into the gullet
Of a relentless beast,
The darkness illuminated
By the wroth of our foe,
Forward we dared shrinking
As we gained our steps.
The sight the sound the smell
Of this creatures breath
Hung over all like a
Sufforcating smog.
On and on we strove
And deeper we fell,
Into the belly of this
Unrelenting monster
With an unquenchable thirst
To claim our very souls.
But when darkness
Submitted to light,
The twisted tangled remains
Of this disembodied
Beast of war laid before us.
And though depleted
Somewhat in numbers,
Our task was over and
"Victory was ours to behold".
