Showers

I caught a raindrop from the heavens
And held it in the palm of my hand
I thought I saw your face
Soon the raindrops pelt me like bullets
The sun was shining vaguely
The devil beating her wife
Steam rising slowly from earth
Like the nemesis of the clouds
When I found shelter you were there waiting
Leaning against the tin wall and two-by-fours
Looking like old-fashioned artwork
I wondered why you wore my favorite dress
During a long summer shower
With nothing to disturb a smoothe surface
Of soaked, cotton fabric on skin and curves
But the answer is obvious
You did not have a clue
Neither did I
We were all alone
And it rained all afternoon
