The bluebird
Perched
On a windowsill
Chirps happily until
A beckoning is heard, a call from the sky,
And then,
He spreads his wings ...
To fly.

Written for my baby son Michael,in the United States Air Force. That first deployment was hard & so bitter-sweet with pride & the old empty nest feeling combined!
