Shades of gray

Our people are still searching for better days.
But first our motives and values have got to change
Our headstones have been engraved, and we were slaves.
With enough burden to push us to early graves.
But instead we stayed.
What a powerful statement has been made.
Through time, riots and tyraids, we were slayed.
Still today through life we pass with remarkable grades.
Thus, im amazed.
This passion in my heart has been set ablaze.
So on this pad, i let my pen graze.
Moving through modern times dizzy confused, dazed.
Soon the last symphany will be played.
Too many lives are being lived in dismay.
Fraudulantly being put on display.
Painstaking to watch as life is lived this way.
A world in shades of gray.

{Contact Information mfisher20019@gmail.com (202) 903-5527}Im Michael, 26 year old Washington DC native new to the poetry community. Initially i was scared to try the poetry thing for public view....people and decisions that have been made, make it somewhat difficult to step out on a limb and express such talent. Typically my writing come from internal thoughts and feelings towards certain situations. My completed pieces of work are typically finished within minutes of the idea of the piece...I hope everyone can find something enjoyable about my work.. I welcome advise in reference to my work, as this is a new venture for me. Thanks to all my readers more…
