Second Chances

Second Chances

Hear the opportunity.
Hear the knock on our door.
Hold dear every godsend,
someone should teach this lore.

Right now let's seize the moment.
Right now let's win the day.
Give us presence of mind,
someone divulge the way.

It may seem providential.
It may seem opportune.
Grant us a lucky-break,
someone provide the boon.

Next time we'll do it better.
Next time we'll have the skill.
Let us do it over,
someone un-ring the bell.

We all need second chances.
We all need revived hope.
Before we go under
someone must toss the rope.
