Scrub Your Life Clean

Once was I, a tiny lad
Famous to all as grimy Chad.
Muck, slime, pigstalls I knew
My friends were they, they clothed me in poo.
One day this lass clothed in white
Came saying to me ," Chad, what a sight!"
She pointed at me, surprised to see
That on my leg, a dog did pee.
Shamed in her sight I sulked away,
Her voice I heard," Please Chad, do stay."
Tword her chambers I went hence,
This lass was the sis of the prince!
She led me to the halls of clean
I hate refuse her offer for 'twould be mean.
Servants came in brought even a hen,
Plucked feathers for brushes and then,
Warm water in bin.
"Scrub Scrub," they said, and "Wash your head,"
"For tonight, the young princess you wed."
Confused was I, but went along,
Walking to the chapel, I heard a song.
"Chad, Chad, oh merry clean Chad,
Once a pauper and nothing you had.
Now clean you are and smell you good
Oh your Highness, remove your hood."
Spoke we our vows, exchanged our rings,
Astonished I wondered how be these things.
Smiling at me she held my hand
Walked we toward the beach into the sand.
She said Chad, remember the day
When dirty you were and lost in your way.
"Yes,"said I, "I saw you then.
I see you now, and love your kin."
"You lit my way and paved my road,
Even kept me away from the warty toad.
Here we stand, joined in the sand,
For new am I and clean most sure,
New with life, for your heart was the perfect cure.
