Satellite (Revised/Edited)

At the center of my orbit,
You were Jupiter, huge, remote,
Surface roiled by raging storms.
I was a dim, distant moon --
A tiny ice-bound clod
Eternally held at bay --
Still, snared inescapably
By your awful gravity.

(note: this revision is the same
as the earlier version, but I have
deleted a few lines that I now feel
were unnecessary and added nothing
to the piece.)
