Rip Van Winkle Took A Nap

Rip Van Winkle took a nap
that lasted twenty years.
When he awoke he had a gap
that left him in arrears.

The Revolutionary War
ended the British Rule.
When Rip awoke he had a door
open to freedom school.

Rip fell asleep a subject
of England's Majesty.
When he awoke he had respect
for he was fully free.

While we slumber life goes on
in revolution's style.
When we awake we muster brawn
to face change with a smile.
