Retiree'S reflection

Seventy odd years working fingers to the bone,
Wisdom and knowledge my how it has grown,
Experienced a lot are mature and wise,
Amazing how often I got a surprise.

Life plays tricks some good others bad,
Love and laughter things that make you sad,
All these factors varied and sweet,
Incredible the resilience go forward don't retreat.

Work and problems plus service to man,
Challenge after challenge for which you can't plan.
These were resolved within patience and skill,
Drive and determination also power of will.

Times they change and technology too,
Including our attitude to accept things new,
People and places are never the same,
Even world travel which is mostly by plane.

Communication and media its not as before,
Within only minutes its everything you saw,
Up to date from anywhere at all,
Massive the coverage and also things small.

Sitting and relaxing the future seems vague,
Depending on youngsters and progress made,
Skill and education they hold the key,

Now we watch to simply wait and see.
