Remember by Allison Rivera 1983-2011

Can't sleep tonight.
Couldn't sleep yesterday either.

I still can remember when you were in my arms.
I couldn't save you, couldn't help.
I remember how hard it was not seeing your face,
Not knowing your fate.
I remember my guilt, always hanging above me.
Seeping into my life in flashes.
Flashes of memory, so bright they blind.
I remember the day, that dreadful day,
Where I saw you so still, smooth face,
No voice, no life.
I remember how I cried, how I had to cry,
To extinguish the burning of my soul.
I remember the ceremony, me in black, you in blue.
The tears of your life falling, but none from me,
You took my tears when you left.
I remember when you told me you hated me,
I remember when you told me you loved me,
I remember when you told me you were leaving,
I remember when you asked me not to go.
I remember.

Can't sleep tonight.
Couldn't sleep yesterday either
