Reflection

Andy Lyle 1951 (Londonderry)

I look into the mirror
And see my earthly guise
But I don't see anything
That I recognise
Where is the brown hair
Tinged with red
The skin an olive tan
The soulful eyes of azure blue
That made me what I am
The eyes still hold
Their hue of blue
But of brown hair I'm bereft
To be replaced by silver
And there's not much of it left
But what I've gained is wisdom
Along life's narrow path
And though I've cried  a great deal
I've now learnt how to laugh
To enjoy all those little things
I once had brushed aside
And thank my God in heaven
For bringing me on this ride
