Realizations

I’ve felt the spirit,
touched His hand,
I’ve felt his presence
stretch across the land.
I hope that someday
I can learn to understand
that God, however mighty,
does not demand.

We have our freedom,
our first, painful decision,
Sadly, we want faith to fit
our sin with complete precision.
We blame our God
for our own incision,
And what happens next,
I can only envision.

Now that I’ve found Him,
he’s hard to lose,
I’ll keep my heart open,
especially when I choose
the path I will take
when I follow the cues,
even if it means
praying in the pews.
