Reality Again

The dream is over
it's left well behind,
Condensed to a memory
where we could unwind,
Warm inviting sand
that tickled the feet,
Plus sparkling water
each morning we'd greet.
=====
Absence of gulls
what a remarkable thing,
Replaced by minors
that chortle and sing,
Brazen they be
both morning and night,
There they were
and always in sight.
=====
Now back home
with the temperatures-cool,
No frenzied fish
or warm tropical  pool,
There is normality
to face each day,
Life is serious
limited time for play.
=====
Work it beckons
the pressures soon mount,
Whatever we do
p*ss taken into account,
New Zealand's home
we soon realise that,
No tropical paradise
nor trace of bat.
=====
About this poem;-
“Yes our holiday is now over and we can relive it with our pictures, videos and in the mind.
Being there as a family we can  bring it to the fore whenever it suits us. We are already looking forward to another holiday in the
future and are planning for another Island to visit, even if it is the same one. Time alone will tell.”

I have been writing poems for forty years and written about all sorts of things. Somehow I get creating streaks and can write up to 4 or 5 poems at once of varying subjects. I find it is a good way to record events of the day and bring history to life.The mental aspect is a balance against keeping fit,work and life in general. more…
