Real Life

He was young, he was old
They both were the same age
Playing fetch every day,
He would lick his face
He was unaware the day would come
And when he died, he knew what real pain was

He never was the same again
From that day on, real life began

Senior high, girlfriends, football games, graduations
Summer break, spent his time filling out applications
It was then that he saw her and his whole life changed

He held her hand closely tight
Felt the pain she was fighting
