Random Reflections

Feel salty air along the beach tonight
So once again I'm feeling young and spry.
Through hazy fog from time to time I sight
White sails and hear the hungry seagulls cry.

A summer rain and then a rainbow seen,
Its hues embossed on butterflies and ponds.
A honey bee that reaches deep and clean
For nectar, life infused, the rose responds.

The air is hushed, oppressive is the heat
As tired old bird sits on a cool steel bridge
For he is free of mind and wing and feet;
My bird is caged with no such privilege.

My heart astir by just remembering
I found true love and violets in Spring.
