Puppets monologue

Sunil Bhatia 1971 (Allahabad)

Master, oh my master,
Where have you been,
My life's so insignificant,
When you are not seen.

These people all around are used
To seeing me perform,
I am at your beck and call
From night time till the dawn.

You can make me dance and do
As you always please,
Every move made by your hands
Can be shown with ease.

Frightened by this world there's little
That puppets could do,
But to be a part of what their master
Wishes too.

Master, oh my master,
Will do as you've planned,
There's nothing else left to do
But wait for your command.
