PROMISE KEEPERS (Poem #255)

We are the promise keepers who help each other through
Promising to keep our faith and hold to God so true.
Reminding each other of God's Spirit is now in us too.

We hold each other up to God in praise and with prayer,
For we know God is listening and He will always care,
For He is ever by our side and will be forever there.

Gathering together and increasing in power and zest,
And all those who hear will be put then to the test.
For keeping the light shining for Jesus is what we do best.

When we are about to weaken, we grab a brother's hand
And raise up our voices to everyone and to every land.
Singing loudly as we go circling in a band.

We are the Promise Keepers, men who promise to God
To keep strong faith in Him and not fear or nod
With the blessings of our families as we onward trod

Jean Gorney

I wrote a poem for my daughter and new son-in-law and read it at their wedding reception in 1997. People have been encouraging me ever since. I try to write up-beat and happy poetry. My poetry has been in many anthologies, newspapers, church bulletins, etc. I won a small contest once. I self-published some small(4x5)books with about 16 poems in each that can be used as greeting cards. I include an envelope for mailing. Check them out on my FB page under Jean Magill Gorney. more…
