Praying

Each night clasping her rosary beads
She prays for his soul once more.
Desperate pleas for forgiveness,
Her tormented spirit trapped in repetition.
Phantoms grasp and scream out their existence,
A jagged knife slashes her soul
Dreadful memories blister her heart.
She imagines him tumbling endlessly in hell’s fire
Never to be united with her in eternity.
So she prays urgently to Mother Mary
Her mother tears continuously streaming
For absolution .
