Poetic Justice*

Fairness and equality
seem like obtuse dreams.
It takes poetic justice to put right new themes.

Kindness and gentility
seem like barren seeds.
It takes poetic justice to put right new heeds.

Goodness and civility
seem like remote hopes.
It takes poetic justice to put right new scopes.

Fineness and docility
seem like suspect wants.
It takes poetic justice to put right new fronts.

Trueness and integrity
seem like opaque plots.
It takes poetic justice to put right new shots.

*Poetic justice: an outcome in which vice is punished and virtue rewarded usually in a manner peculiarly or ironically appropriate.
