Pitch Black Darkness

i was walking the brooklyn bridge
thinking of the girl i missed
there were a lot of people walking by
i remember she didn't even say goodbye

i was talking to a friend in times square
all the while acting like i care
feeling sad and so disappointed
gotta look in the mirror cause i can't avoid it

i was up in harlem hailing a taxi cab
when the whole city went pitch black
i tried to find her but she wasn't there
at the funeral, i couldn't hold back tears

i was sailing across the hudson river
telling myself i musn't shiver
the clear blue water relaxes my soul
and washes away everything i've known
