Lives shattered.
Splintered glass, piercing into the soul of America.
Burning buildings, saturated with gasoline and cologne.
Yet, still living.
Though our bodies are badly scarred and our hearts cut open,
We wake up from the smoke and collapses and crashes
Eyes Open
Minds ready to begin again.
Not because we wish to restart our lives,
But because we have been forced to.
So we begin.
Let us pick up
The pieces of our souls that we left behind
and put them back together with glue that's sweet,
And though some pieces will forever be lost,
We can survive. And we will.
Even broken glass can be beautiful again.
