Our Treasured Words

I wonder if poetry
Was always called poetry.
Maybe it was the way people
Used to speak, to sing their words
Instead of letting them weep.
Maybe being blunt and forthcoming,
As in without some form of melody,
Was a crime against the remedy
To silence. They might have
Watched sounds dance and
Laughter prance as one another
Would rhyme of a passing glance.
Maybe poetry is speech, and to
Reach this conclusion we must
First learn to speak.

I get my inspiration randomly. There are literally one million things, if not more, that can create a spark in the back of my mind. When this happens I can write pretty much about anything, happy or sad. more…
