One in Heaven, One on Earth
Watering the ground
with bitter salt,
tiny crystals fall to the dirt.
Small prayers
sent upward,
though gravity throws them down.
Father, you’ve seen
what I cry for,
and why I hold on.
This life,
given to me,
for such a short time
does well
to serve such a purpose,
such a destiny.
With unseen fingers,
you wipe the tears
from my cheeks.
You let the ground
soak in the unexpected raindrops
and grow still strong.
