Once And Now

Once she had few throbs or aches
Now she hurts with pains
Once she clearly got most breaks
Now she knows the banes

Once she had few checks or cares
Now she weeps and bleeds
Once she bravely faced all dares
Now she tilts toward heeds

Once she had few glooms or woes
Now she scowls and fights
Once she smiled in evening glows
Now she hides from lights

Once she had few kicks or shoves
Now she feels harsh hates
Once she came across kind loves
Now she takes mean fates

Once she had few stains or wastes
Now she pleads and begs
Once she had few slipshod tastes
Now she owns the dregs

Once she had few qualms or fears
Now she quakes and prays
Once she planned for many years
Now she yearns for days
