On My Street

To live on my street
You need to have
At least,
One good poem. . .
Original, colorful, ready
To spiel off, in a good 'rap',
At the drop of a dime.
Immediately,
With 'holy fire'
Vigor and sincerity.
/It will be used to regale
Your friends. . .
Swoon your lover,
And ward off your enemy,
Foe or evil spirits.
/Your talisman
Your staff of Moses,
Your club and crutch
And means to build a fire
In the dark. . .
Your bouquet of roses,
And ladder
To the stars.

Tracy Bollinger

Always liked to write and have written poems periodically over the years. I've never shared them withanyone except for immediate family. Decided to take the plunge and put some out 'there'. But bearwith me, I don't really know what I'm doing. This is therapy of sorts and I hope to let go of the need to rhyme. It's a mental condition.
