Oh Poetic Soul

There's a way it's does me
this poetic thing
as though I should write and write
and write and write and write!

It's wanting to replace my meals
and fighting to displace my sleep
It's itching to chew my thoughts
and aching to swallow my other passions

Oh selfish poetic soul
isn't life line by line?
precept upon precept, edict upon edict?
here a little, there a little?

you seem to love the embodiment of me
at times I shout "stop it!!!"...only in my mind
to the hearing of this controlling soul
then I hear another voice say but "I like it"

If you propose to me, I will say no
a big no and maybe a yes
but you see, I don't want to be your groom or your lover- you hear me!
I just want to like you and maybe love you oh poetic soul

for you are healthy to me
your thoughts are wealthy to me
you widen my creative mind
and stretch my artistic imagination

David Abraham

Here, an opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to ALMIGHTY GOD for giving me the gift of poetry, it is indeed a beautiful thing especially the positive energy of expression and the passion. I discovered my gift of writing and poetry quite early but only much later in my life did I start to put it to use. I was quite active in the old poetry.com and won one poetic pin, several poetic accolades and one of the poets of the year in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. Presently, am writing my second unpublished inspirational book and also putting together a poetic book due to be published later in the year. email address: mypoeticcareer@yahoo.com.
