Ode to Amherst Bear

Where are you now great Amherst Bear?
You wander far without a care
Beneath the stars and moonlit sky
I have yet to stare you in the eye

But someday yet we may meet
Upon a dark and lonely street
Perhaps in the heart of Amherst Village
You may come to rest or pillage
And my eyes will surely pop
As you come to a stop
'Why must you wait upon the line?'
And you will point to the stop sign.
And as you wander past
I know this won't be our last
We will again meet
In about forty feet
For in the Village we have to stop
Unless you are a local cop
At every sign that is there
Even if you are the Amherst Bear!
