Ode to a Snarling Dog

I hate this dog, I truly do. I wish it would just die
I can't get near my loving wife, no matter how I try.

We thought it would be sweet - a nice dog for our lap
But all it does is snarl and growl; it never shuts its trap.

All I want is to kiss my wife but the dumb dog's standing guard
I swear, someday I'll lose my cool and she'll end up in the yard.

She bites my hands and makes them bleed
I never knew that Terrier was such a vicious breed.

But why should a dog dictate to me when I can touch my wife?
It really is a royal pain a disruption to my life.

I'll bide my time, 'til I distract her - to snuggle with my wife
I'll outsmart that little cur if it takes me my whole life.

Until then, here I sit, sulking on the couch
I won't say another word except for maybe "ouch".
