Now And Then

When there were no cameras we had to sculpt and paint.
Images were preserved and that was simply quaint.

When there were no telephones we had to meet and chat.
Messages were expressed and that was clearly pat.

When there were no surgeries we had to glimpse and face.
Identities were known and that was no disgrace.

When there were no movie shows we had to dream and read.
Amusements were devised and that was witty breed.

When there were no plastic cards we had to pick and pay.
Purchases were possessed and that was just okay.

When there were no cosmetics we had to rise and shine.
Hygienics were conjured and that was mostly fine.

When there were no grocery stores we had to seed and grow.
Garden crops were amassed and that was freshest stow.
