No Happy Endings

(This poem is not about sex)

Fairy tale love stories only happen,
Well, in fairy tales, never in real life.
So I guess as poetry may go with the flow,
A poem may not always end on a good note.
Such is real life when it comes down to it,
Hearts are broken and love is torn,
But life seems to keep going on anyways.
I want a happy ending; really I do,
With that I will be content just to be in love,
With the woman that holds my hand.
No need to suffer the sorrow and pain,
And no need to dwell on the past,
But a poem written from the heart,
With all of its emotions is still a poem.
Happy ending or not, I will write the thoughts,
Which fill my heart, body, and my soul.
Broken I have been many times before,
And today is no different than any other.
No happy endings for a poem of emotions,
Where anger and hurt take the forefront.
If you want a happy poem in your life,
I suggest that you sit down and write one.
