Nevermore

She had eyes like pearls and a beautiful smile that could be seen from far.
But when I sat next to her, she was as distant as the late night stars.
Without kindness or compassion, she left me stranded in a sea of sadness.
There I remained, alone, in silent darkness.

So I walked away, down an illuminated path.
Still, I walk and have never looked back.
She was once my shining princess but now, she is but a cold statue waiting along the Plutonian shore.
From the depths of my heart to the borders of my mind, forever echoes, "Nevermore."
