Never Thought It Would B e You

I never thought it would come to this,
I never imagined it ending in a mess,
Not the greatest foreseer could have seen,
Not the greatest fore-teller could have been,
Wise enough to predict that my traitor,
Would be my pal, my dearest confider,

Born and raised in the same village,
Guided and caned by the same village sticks,
Growing up together from that tender age,
We made the best comrades since age six,

Things we did both bad and good,
All these things did we, together,
This time mischievous next time mysterious,-
Stealing mangoes from the orchard:
Cheating mum we’re ill of fever,

And some times we were good boys too!
We slashed the grass and mopped the loo!
Many years came and went by and by,
Our friendship grew stronger each year and day,
I even have our kept souvenir,
For our good old days, together,

It is with joy that I recall,
Yet with much sadness I recoil,
With disappointment this I write.

Of all the people I’ve ever known,
In such a trouble as I got,
You were my one and only hope,
Yet I got your slash of the whip.

In an accident my dad untimely demised,
And so did mum when she got news,
I lost my job for I took a day off,
To lay the deceased and get off my grief,

I lost my home for I didn’t have finance,
To pay mortgage in time or advance,
My girlfriend couldn’t continue with a bankrupt,
All the rogues (my friends) vanished.

Such a trouble is as painful as can be
“But all hope is not gone for you have he”
And I had my dude in mind when this quoth I,
After all he had always been my ally.

At this point I counted on you,
Moral support alone could do,
But you were responsible for my state,
You were behind my daddy’s accident,

You were envious of his estate,
For your schemes my job I lost,
My girlfriend, I figured by you she’s brainwashed.
What more evil could one do to a friend?
Or in this case a ‘frienemy’, they hate?

You couldn’t stop at naught to see me derail
You leased my home and saw me to the street,
And you got audacity to mock me in my state,
You have betrayed me, my trust and hope,
So was Christ from one of His own!

Yet for you I pray in honesty and earnestly,
That your deeds be forgiven by God almighty.
