Nature's Fight

Red blazes the sun, the parched earth
seeks a reprieve. Dry days have become
long scorched months. Quench me.
Distant lightning blazes, ripping the sky like old cloth, moist grows the air
can this be my saviour the water of life?
Fierce still fights the sun, his right to rule all he espies, he is his own counsel.
The wind and rain, both do protest
they have their right as equals.
Proud, arrogant Sol, will he retreat
or allow treaty to his perceived foes?
Cool and clammy grows the long desiccated air, moisture fills the void not felt these long arid times, and flows over the brim
Dry emptiness now fills sopping the parched.
Green hues will cover soon the dirty brown,
a small battle won, the war will continue.
